What Strain Are You? Sativa Vs. Indica

Nothing is better than smoking the right type of weed. What are you, Sativa or Indica?

Marijuana is able to compliment daily activities such as chores, clearning, listening to music, watching movies or t.v. shows, outdoor activities, cooking, etc… but in order to have the best experience, it is important to pick the right strain of Marijuana. The 3 strain types are Sative, Indica, and Hybrid. These are the 3 main types of marijuana plants and each has unique characteristics that make them special. In this article we’ll be discussing Sativa vs. Indica and the different effects for each. At the end you will find a few recommended activities to match each type.

Marijuana is categorized by 3 strain types: Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid. Each strain has unique properties that contribute to the high. Sativas will be energizing, head highs that are more mental. Sativas are great for social activities, or being active. Indicas on the other hand, are for relaxation and unwinding. The indica high is typically a calming/relaxing body high. Now that we have some of the basics out of the way, let’s dive into the Sativa plant! As noted above, Sativas are uplifting, so they are recommended for daytime use. The effects of Sativa plants are typically:

  • Creative
  • Euphoria
  • Sociable
  • Cheerful
  • Energic
  • Alert

Sativas are great to pair with an activity like cleaning, hiking, making music, painting, or anything creative. Sativas are always great for social settings because they act as a natural energy source. Sativa plants typically grow to be 8-15 feet tall with buds that are tall and airy. The plant will flower in 10-16 weeks and typically has higher THC levels than indica strains.

  • Relaxed

Indicas pair perfectly with a relaxing evening in the house, watching a movie or t.v. show, cooking, reading, or sleeping. The Indica plant grows to be between 2-6 feet tall. The buds are dense and compact with higher CBD levels than the sativa plant.

Lastly, there is a Hybrid strain. Hybrids are the result of crossing Sativas and Indicas plants. Hybrids allow for a mixture of both sativas and indicas. They typically are created for a specific outcome. What I mean is there are hybrids that are dominant toward one strain. These will mix several effects of the opposite but still be leaning towards the main type.

Hybrids are great for people who are wanting the best of both worlds. They are great for people who just can’t decide between the two.  Some hybrids lean more toward one type than the other. These are called “dominant” hybrids, a sativa dominant hybrid is going to be a hybrid but the high will be more of a sativa high. Don’t forget all people react to cannabis differently so it is important to try a few different options to find a preference
